I had a lovely weekend going to watch [livejournal.com profile] klee39 fence. She did a great job! And made people pay for leaving their arms exposed.

But then I started to feel indescribably awful. Never felt this kind of awful. Weakness but not quite weakness. Dizzy but not quite dizzy. Plain ill. Walking is hard. Sleep not so much. Maybe a few hours at a time. If that.

And since it's gotten worse, I'm now at the Newton Wellesley ER. Because [livejournal.com profile] mendoza is awesome and brought me since I can't drive.

Let's hope this stops sucking soon. I want to get back to the good things in life.

Cable modem is a paperweight. Workmen coming tomorrow.

7V PEL is done. Some highlights:

- "(PC), I need a sample of your blood!"

- PC healers are great on huge hp fighty npcs.

- Courage test! Wake up alone in the dark and then fight me with 1hp!

- Friday Night Back Ninjas!

- A business meeting where everyone lies.

In other news, Madrigal tomorrow. Weeee! Tasty dinner tonight out with people. Missing other people I don't get to see much.

Fun laundry night last night with [livejournal.com profile] mendoza. Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] eisa tomorrow pre-Madrigal.

Spring has definitely sprung!

Days like this are like a deep breath for the soul. It makes that inner part of you want to uncurl and stretch towards the sun!!

Crows don't migrate, and yet I saw possibly 80-100 flapping together in a long legion across the sky.

Corvid Watch! Caw! Caw!

My car is frozen into my driveway. It can't move. We've been great about shoveling immediately, but the sleet iced me in!!

Spinning tires. Having to chisel the snow bank *off* the car side to unbury the wind accumulation. At least a centimeter of solid clear ice over the pavement. Burning rubber! The thing goes nowhere.

Means I'm missing [livejournal.com profile] rowan_syngwyn's show, which SUCKS. Also means I'm not likely to get out tomorrow either.

All I can do is dig during daylight and salt around the tires and give it all a day or two to work.

Seriously, I've never before actually failed to get out my car when I wanted to. WTF?!?

...from the Puerto Rico airport. Sleep is for the weak!

I ought to be back home by noon - and hopefully asleep by 12:15.

More trip details when my brain is unpacked from my suitcase.

In this case, it's dragging everyone out to a market plaza that is permanently closed, while not listening to the signs and doing so to find breakfast.

Ok, I'm happy to explore and adventure. I really like it, in fact. But, really, let's do it after I have been fed.

I'm already kinda sick, I don't need to add starving as a barrier to my fun.

Puerto Rico: Beautiful wind storms. Lovely beaches, sea and sky...gorgeous.

Calming palms, cute birds...

...and really annoying parents.

As long as I can avoid the last, I can really enjoy the first! :)

Mirror Mirror was totally awesome. I had a great time, and though I was totally not expecting it, I've got a ready made cabin team full of weirdness and role-play fun, but seem to have dodged the potential drama/character friction that was foreseeable.

The result thusfar is a chill and fun cast of characters. I won't go into further details here, so as not to spoil the surprise for future players, but it was an awesome event all around.

If you didn't know better, you wouldn't've known it was a first event. I didn't see anything on the PC side that screamed out FIRST EVENT SCREWUP!! And if anyone thought there were stat difficulties...no one died (in a res sense) and it could just as easily have been a symptom of plot having little to no idea what the class spread would be at all.

So I had a great time, and am looking forward to a great game and already figuring out prep for the next event at the end of October.

And the site was beautiful and excellent for larping as well! A big double win.

So Long Live the Carnival and the Festival both!

$47 has got to be the least I've spent on a character outfit since high school.

I'm kinda surprised really!

3 days to go!

Flooding fun! Basement flooded, hot water still out, pumping continues - electronic but not automatic. Also, golf clubs soaked at the handles. Several inches at crest, mostly under control now.

In addition: detours!! Flooded roads, clogged stormdrains, underwater parking lots...funfun!

The moral of this story: dear humans, Mother Nature runs this place, you only live here. You don't control or own it. Get the message before you wreck the place like a bad tenant.

Riiiight

It seems that the transmission of my last post was kinda screwy. What it *said* was a gleefully geeky bouncy expression of joy at going to the midnight-at-Arisia, Live Cast playing of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Which was totally awesome. There was singing, laughing, people trying to invent callbacks a-la-Rocky (and some were really quite clever...and twisted...which was great!) Also there were pseudo commercials between episodes involving the Dr. Horrible actors. Penny throwing Cheetos into the laundry at the laundromat, Dr. Horrible as Doogie Houser, as himself the actor, saying he's a fake physician telling you that you can obtain prescription strength Old Spice without a prescription... There was much weirdness. It was awesome!! R-Rated Buffy-the-Musical Episode was supposed to follow, but as it was 1am and stormy I left. Shame I missed it, but the drive back home was slimy and dangerous, so I suppose its for the best. Next year, though, if I plan to go to the Con at all, I am GETTING A (*#$*#ing ROOM. Which ought to solve maybe 1/3rd to 1/2 of the annoyance I had with the con, thus letting the fun parts be more obvious and continual.

And soon it begins...the midnight showing of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog - with live cast. Followed by the musical Buffy episode.

Mwuhahahaha!! The geekiness!! In harmony even. So glad Dr. Horrible's smack in my range.

...Arisia this year has a high steampunk population among both vendors and con-goer's costuming.

How very odd.

Whoever invented the 6:30Am flight should be dragged out onto a runway, ran over by several planes, and then shot. A lot.

Verdict: worth seeing IN THEATRE.

If it doesn't win at least one award for effects, the judges are on drugs. Totally spectacular. I bet they even invented technology or processes for the effects.

So this one is Big Screen Cost Approved. Heck, you can even see it in 3D, which I didn't but may do later.

And a pretty good movie too, though I could easily see viable critiques about politics or history if one is so inclined.
